The Karnataka High Court upheld the Indian government's authority to issue content takedown orders via its centralized Sahyog portal, rejecting Elon Musk’s X's claim to free speech protections under Article 19 of the Indian Constitution. Senior judge M Nagaprasanna stated, “the protective embrace of Article 19 cannot be invoked” by foreign companies. X had previously challenged the government's directives to remove content critical of its policies, marking a pivotal moment in India's regulatory stance on tech firms.
