Researchers at MIT have found that using AI tools like ChatGPT in the writing process can dull brain function, reduce memory retention, and limit creative thinking. The study involved 54 volunteers aged 18-39, divided into three groups: those using ChatGPT, those using Google Search, and those completing tasks without digital tools. The results showed that those using ChatGPT displayed the lowest levels of brain stimulation, with English teachers describing their essays as lacking depth and emotion. The study suggests that while AI tools can boost productivity, they may also encourage mental complacency in users.
