Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, plans to increase transparency on AI-generated images ahead of the November election. They will label such images with a note saying "Imagined with AI" to inform users. Meta aims to work with industry partners to establish common technical standards for detecting AI-generated content. The company will implement visible and invisible markers on images created with its AI feature, collaborating with other firms like Adobe and Google to embed metadata. While AI-generated content is prevalent in photos, Meta is also working on strategies to identify AI-generated audio and video content. Users must disclose digitally altered content, or face penalties. While companies are starting to include signals in their image generators, they haven’t started including them in AI tools. This initiative aims to maintain transparency and combat misinformation on Meta's platforms.
