Meta has remedied a security flaw that allowed users of its AI chatbot to access others' private prompts and AI-generated responses. Security researcher Sandeep Hodkasia disclosed the bug, which he discovered on December 26, 2024, and received a $10,000 bounty for doing so. The issue stemmed from Meta’s servers inadequately verifying prompt ownership. Meta confirmed the fix on January 24, 2025, stating no evidence of malicious exploitation was found, amidst ongoing scrutiny of AI privacy risks.
