Meta, Google, Amazon quit Web Summit despite CEO's ‘profound’ apology over Israel remarks

Meta, Google and Amazon have decided to pull out of Web Summit, Europe's biggest technology conference, after CEO Paddy Cosgrave criticized Israel's actions following the terror attacks by Hamas. The tech giants have joined a long list of companies and venture capitalists who have decided to pull out of the Web Summit following the controversial remarks by Cosgrave. Cosgrave's remarks on Israel's air strikes in Gaza led to a boycott by several companies and investors, including Garry Tan from Silicon Valley. Notable names like Intel, Siemens, Amy Poehler, and Gillian Anderson also withdrew from the event. However, Cosgrave later issued an apology, acknowledging the hurt his comments caused and expressing a desire for peace. The Web Summit is still scheduled to take place in Lisbon from November 13-16, hosting thousands of startups and attendees.
