Meta announced a new WhatsApp Business Tools MCP server on September 15. It lets developers connect AI coding agents such as Claude, Cursor, Codex or ChatGPT directly to the WhatsApp Business Platform. Instead of jumping between the Developer Console, Business Manager and API docs, users can simply describe what they need in chat. The agent can create a WhatsApp Business account, add and verify a phone number, register it for the Cloud API, check Terms of Service status and handle other setup steps. It can also create or edit messaging templates, send test messages, configure webhooks and flag quiet failures around payments or business verification. Meta already offers a separate Social Technologies MCP for searching documentation and troubleshooting. The WhatsApp-specific server is rolling out gradually and is meant to work alongside the existing one.
