Microsoft integrates Anthropic's AI models, Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4.1, into its Copilot assistant, reducing its reliance on OpenAI. Users can now choose between these Anthropic models and OpenAI's in the Copilot's “Researcher” tool, announced by Charles Lamanna, president of Copilot operations. This move comes as part of Microsoft's strategy to diversify its AI offerings, which also includes models from DeepSeek and others, challenging competitors like Amazon Web Services.
