Microsoft has launched the general availability of its India South Central cloud region in Hyderabad. The move expands the company’s India footprint to four cloud regions. The others are Central India in Pune, South India in Chennai and West India in Mumbai. Microsoft also operates two data centres in partnership with Jio. The Hyderabad region already has early customers including Adani Group, Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank and PB Pay. They are using it for cloud capacity, disaster recovery, operational resilience and AI workloads. The launch is part of Microsoft’s broader investment plans for India. The company earlier announced $3 billion in January 2025 and $17.5 billion in December 2025 for cloud and AI infrastructure. Together the commitments total $20.5 billion. Microsoft President for India and South Asia Puneet Chandok said the company is investing in India’s ability to set the pace for the world. The expansion comes as enterprises increase spending on generative AI.
