The Tamil Nadu Boiler Association has asked for financial support from Union and state governments to save struggling micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs) in Trichy. These units, mainly in the engineering and fabrication sectors, need fresh orders and face loan repayment pressure. Many have become non-performing assets since 2016, with reduced work orders from BHEL and Covid-19 exacerbating the situation. Over 150 of 450 units in Trichy have already closed. A rehabilitation package is sought to diversify into defence and railway sectors and revive these units. In Uttar Pradesh, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) plans to auction several commercial properties, including fuel filling stations and shops, in October. The e-auction will run until October 16. The Delhi government is also considering mandatory energy audits for buildings, malls, and commercial high-rises with sanctioned loads of 500 kilowatts and above.
