Perplexity has launched Teammates, a set of always-on digital assistants designed for workplace roles. The agents pull data from existing projects, skills, and memory inside Perplexity tools and integrate with Perplexity Computer to run tasks on a user’s device. Users can assign different jobs to each teammate so they work simultaneously. Each agent operates in its own thread within the app and can interact via Slack. The feature is similar to OpenAI’s Dots and Anthropic’s Claude Duet but requires a subscription to Perplexity’s Max plan at 200 dollars per month. CEO Aravind Srinivas said the company envisions organizations eventually running hundreds of teammates for each person. The update is rolling out first to Max users on the web, with native mobile and desktop apps planned later. The shift moves users from writing session prompts to setting high-level goals.
