PM Vishwakarma scheme for Traditional Traders

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has convened a meeting to strategize the Rs 13,000-crore PM Vishwakarma scheme's execution. State officials, public sector banks, and the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) will gather to discuss this scheme aiding craftsmen and artisans. Set for FY 2024-2028, the PM Vishwakarma scheme will be jointly implemented by the MSME, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship ministries, launching on September 17, Vishwakarma Jayanti. The initiative aims to train and register 300,000 craftspeople across 18 traditional trades in India, providing them with a Vishwakarma certificate, identity card, and credit assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh with a 5% interest rate. This will improve the quality of their products and integrate them into the MSME value chain while aligning with PM Modi's appeal for the involvement of isolated artisans.
