Politicians say they can make social media less ‘addictive’. Experts aren’t so sure

New York passed two state laws designed to protect under-18-year-olds from the dangers of social media, including the Stop Addictive Feeds Exploitation (SAFE) for Kids Act and the New York Child Data Protection Act. The SAFE Act requires parental consent before children under 18 can use apps with ""addictive feeds"" and bans notifications for minors between midnight and 6am.
