President Droupadi Murmu, in her address at the inauguration of the first UP International Trade Show, noted that India’s most populous state, Uttar Pradesh, ranks first among all the states in the country with more than 96 lakh MSMEs. Murmu also noted that more than 200 manufacturers from the state were displaying their products, and more than 400 buyers from 66 countries were participating in the event, making the trade show a medium to support local manufacturers and small businesses and providing exposure to the national and international market. During her address, the President said that despite being a landlocked state, exports from Uttar Pradesh are growing continuously, expanding from around Rs 88,000 crore in 2017-18 to Rs 1,75,000 crore in 2022–23. She further said that, on the strength of “such excellent economic performance” at the state level, India would become the third largest economy in the world.
