"In the current financial year, the Indian government's procurement of goods and services from micro and small enterprises (MSEs) has surpassed Rs 13,000 crore within five months (April-August). Among 84 central public sector enterprises (CPSEs), the total procurement worth Rs 32,281 crore included 40% (Rs 13,027 crore) sourced from MSEs. This involved 52,403 MSEs, with contributions from SC-ST-owned MSEs (Rs 288 crore, 0.89% share) and women-owned MSEs (Rs 381 crore, 1.18% share). In FY23, MSE procurement constituted 35.69% (Rs 62,710 crore) of the total Rs 1.75 lakh crore procurement, involving 2.31 lakh MSEs. The government exceeded the Rs 42,705 crore MSE procurement target for FY23. Last year, the government expanded the range of public procurement for MSEs by incorporating services like consultancy, canteen operations, housekeeping, and more."
