Qualcomm is set to acquire Alphawave, a manufacturer of semiconductor tech, for approximately $2.4 billion as it seeks to boost AI capability and diversify into the data center market. This move will reduce its current dependence on the smartphone industry. Alphawave’s shareholders will receive 183 pence per share, a near 96% premium from the March 31 closing price. The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.
