RBI reviews flow of credit to MSMEs, delibrates on bridging credit gap

The Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) Standing Advisory Committee (SAC) convened its 28th meeting in Lucknow, chaired by Deputy Governor Swaminathan J. The meeting focused on reviewing credit flow to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and addressing critical issues. These included assessing and bridging the credit gap for MSMEs, enhancing digital solutions for credit linkage, promoting the adoption of TReDS, supporting women entrepreneurs, and reviving stressed MSMEs. Deputy Governor Swaminathan stressed the crucial role of the MSME sector in India's development goals and called for collaborative efforts among stakeholders to unlock its full potential. He also highlighted RBI's initiatives, including the Account Aggregator framework and the regulatory sandbox on MSME lending, and emphasized the role of industry associations in supporting MSMEs. The meeting involved senior officials from ministries, SIDBI, major banks, and other key organizations in the MSME sector.
