Unbox Robotics Labs, founded by Pramod Ghadge and Shahid Memon, is a plug-and-play robotics tech for intra-logistics automation, known as the UnboxSort system. The company, which started in 2019, focuses on swarm intelligence, which mimics how ants, termites, or bees cooperate. The concept was initially credited to biologists, but computer scientists began writing algorithms based on it in the 90s. Unbox uses swarm intelligence to build solutions to complex problems via decentralized, self-organised systems. The robots work independently but together, with one goal: stacking parcels vertically, very fast, lifting packages of up to 10 kg, which accounts for the bulk of parcels sorted in most warehouses. Ghadge and Memon claim their system helps customers achieve a three-fold improvement in productivity, sorting accuracy of 99.99 percent, and space efficiency of 50 to 70 percent.
