Wireless technologies offer improved patient mobility by eliminating cables and enabling easier device handling. Preventive health is more efficient than curative methods, as early detection of diseases is often cheaper and more likely to improve overall health. A wireless sensor system that connects wearable medical devices to a central monitoring unit or sensor hub can be adapted to various scenarios, including private homes, elderly care, sports activities, and hospitals. But risks associated with insecure wireless connectivity include unauthorised access to patient information, data breaches, and Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. To minimise these risks, healthcare providers can adopt the CIA approach (Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability) to safeguard both patients and healthcare providers. By adopting a proactive approach towards wireless security, healthcare providers can harness the benefits of connected medical devices in the digital age of medical care.
