Saga Robotics Gains $11.5M for U.S. and UK Expansion

Norway-based Saga Robotics has secured $11.5 million in growth capital, announcing its successful launch of its autonomous robot, Thorvald. The company, which aims to address the labor shortage and make agriculture more sustainable and energy efficient, has developed an autonomous robot called Thorvald. Thorvald uses algorithms to navigate challenging on-farm conditions, reducing plant diseases, promoting sustainable food production with lower CO2 emissions, and reducing pesticide use by 60-90 percent. The modular design allows for the creation of various robots based on the same basic module using common tools. Thorvald is leading the way in precision farming, with nearly one in ten strawberries in the UK being treated by it this year. The capital will be used to position Saga for expansion into American vineyards, strengthen its leadership in British strawberry production, and develop new tools and data services.
