Samsung partners with Tenstorrent to produce next-gen AI chips

Samsung Electronics, a leader in memory chip manufacturing, is partnering with Canadian startup Tenstorrent to produce advanced AI chiplets. These chiplets, designed for applications from edge devices to data centers, will benefit from Samsung's manufacturing expertise. Tenstorrent's CEO, Jim Keller, praised Samsung Foundry's commitment to semiconductor technology and its alignment with Tenstorrent's vision for AI and RISC-V advancement. Samsung aims to address the chip oversupply issue by expanding into AI chip production. The move comes as the company anticipates a reduction in its chip deficit during the third quarter, primarily due to ongoing decreases in chip production. Samsung has joined industry peers in reducing chip production to stabilize the chip market. Analysts expect the company's Device Solutions division to report a third-quarter loss but note that these production cuts are essential for long-term profitability and market stability.
