Small businesses are about to get hit with more regulations, House committee warns

The House Committee on Small Business is opposing a proposed rule change by the Department of Labor that aims to modernize regulations for registered apprenticeships. The rule, which aims to enhance the National Apprenticeship System, introduces significant changes to training programs, making it more difficult for small businesses to participate. Reps. Roger Williams of Texas and Florida Rep. Aaron Bean argue that these new requirements will discourage small business participation in the apprenticeship programs, which are designed to bolster the American workforce. Williams believes that apprenticeship programs are a critical way to increase the supply of skilled labor force in the country. The DOL's new rule may impede businesses from training a qualified workforce and increase bureaucratic red tape, as the administration has implemented 774 final rules, costing over $450 billion during Biden's tenure.
