The latest Pew Research Center survey reveals that despite concerns about social media's impact on youth, U.S. teens, aged 13 to 17, continue to use these platforms at high rates. YouTube remains the most widely used platform, with about 90% of teens using it. TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram are also popular, especially among older teens. Notably, Facebook's popularity has declined from 71% in 2014-2015 to 33% today. The survey also explores how often teens visit these platforms, with YouTube and TikTok being frequently used. Gender differences exist, with teen girls more likely to use TikTok and Snapchat almost constantly. Additionally, racial and ethnic disparities in platform usage are evident, with Black and Hispanic teens reporting higher usage rates than White teens on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Differences in platform usage also emerge based on age and household income.
