Tesla has submitted a proposal to manufacture and sell battery storage systems, specifically its "Powerwall," in India. The company aims to support India's battery storage capabilities by offering a system that can store power from solar panels or the grid for nighttime use and outages. While Tesla sought incentives to establish a battery storage factory in India, officials indicated that these incentives might not be available. However, the government could consider subsidies for customers purchasing such products. Tesla is keen to expand its presence in India beyond electric vehicles and is looking for residential and industrial customers for its battery storage systems. India faces electricity shortages during peak times and relies heavily on coal-based power generation. The country aims to increase non-fossil fuel power capacity to 500 GW by 2030. Tesla's Powerwall, a compact home battery unit, could provide a solution for India's growing energy storage needs.
