The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has initiated a review of Apple and Google, citing their "effective duopoly" in the mobile sector, as nearly 100% of UK devices operate on their platforms. Chief Sarah Cardell expressed concerns over their app distribution practices and high commissions, as these impede innovation. Both companies have opposed the scrutiny, arguing for evidence-based regulation, while Epic Games criticized the CMA for not pushing harder for competition. A decision is due by October 22.
