Talent agency WME has partnered with Vermillio to safeguard clients from AI-driven misuse of their likenesses. Vermillio's platform, Trace ID, utilizes AI to track images and prevent theft of intellectual property. The collaboration aims to explore ways to enable clients to monetize their images while protecting against unauthorized usage. This move addresses concerns raised during last year's actors' strike about AI's impact on the industry. Vermillio has created a platform, Trace ID, that could insulate WME clients from thefts of their likenesses and intellectual property by using AI technology to track images. The partnership will also look for ways to use the technology to allow clients to monetize their likenesses and image themselves. WME and Vermillio said the partnership could also help compensate performers if studios wanted, for instance, to use AI to have someone's voice translate content into other languages.
