Utah leads the nation in Google searches for how to start a small business. It’s also been ranked the best place to start a small business. The Small Business Blog reports Utahans averaged more than 12,000 searches each month related to starting a small business. It analyzed searches for terms like small business and side hustle. This doesn’t surprise Salt Lake Chamber President and CEO Derek Miller. He said small businesses have been the “backbone” of Utah’s economy for a long time. “Over 99% of all businesses in Utah are categorized as small businesses, so it’s a great place to have a business and it’s a great place to start a business, ” Miller said. He credits Utah city leaders for helping foster regulations that promote small businesses. Additionally, both WalletHub and US News and World Report recently listed Utah as the best place in the nation to start a new business.
