Vodafone is reportedly considering collaborating with Amazon's Project Kuiper, a low Earth orbit satellite constellation, to enhance its 4G and 5G networks. This partnership would use Project Kuiper's high-bandwidth, low-latency satellites to connect mobile base stations in remote parts of Europe and Africa to Vodafone's core networks. Amazon aims to test prototype satellites soon, with production satellites set to deploy in 2024, entering competition with Starlink and OneWeb. The collaboration intends to extend high-speed broadband services to underserved communities and businesses worldwide, focusing on areas like residential broadband, agriculture, education, healthcare, transportation, and financial services. In parallel, Telefonica has joined forces with Starlink for rural internet connectivity. Amazon plans to launch its first prototype internet satellites in September and is investing $10 billion into the project, aiming to deploy over 3,200 Kuiper satellites by 2026.
