Volkswagen Group has equipped more than 330,000 employees with Microsoft Copilot as part of a phased workplace AI rollout. Microsoft said Copilot Chat earlier reached over 300,000 monthly active users at the company and that employees now use expanded tools, including Work IQ, across engineering, production, procurement, and sales. More than 26,000 AI agents were active across the group in the month before the announcement. The companies also plan to expand collaboration around Volkswagen’s Intelligent Data Foundation using Microsoft Fabric. Separately, Reuters reported a proposed salary freeze for about 660,000 employees worldwide until 2030, citing the Global Works Council and earlier Süddeutsche Zeitung reporting; Volkswagen has not confirmed the plan and called such reports speculation pending labor-cost discussions. Employee representatives and IG Metall have signaled opposition, stressing that pay is set through collective negotiations.
