Anyone with the code can message or call the user via Chat even if they do not follow each other and even if the recipient’s inbox is closed to strangers. Messages sent through an X Number go directly into the main inbox rather than the message-request section. Calls are possible depending on the user’s existing call settings. The feature does not replace X’s message-request system and is not a phone number. Users can turn the number off or refresh it to generate a new code if it is shared more widely than intended, preventing further contact with the old code.
