On its Shorts platform, YouTube introduced a new artificial intelligence feature called "Veo" on Wednesday that leverages Google's DeepMind video-generation engine. This will enable producers to create standalone, six-second video segments using written prompts and incorporate AI-generated backgrounds into their productions. The Veo AI backgrounds improve Dream Screen, a related AI-generation capability YouTube announced in 2023.
