YouTube Removing Ad Controls for Creators

YouTube streamlines creator ad controls, removing individual settings for pre-roll, post-roll, skippable, and non-skippable ads on new videos. In November, creators will only choose to have ads before or after a video. YouTube will determine the specific ad format to display ""when appropriate."" While YouTube claims most creators won't notice a difference, those seeking more ad control may be disappointed. YouTube is also introducing a few new ad options for mid-roll ads. For live streams, creators will be able to see a 60-second countdown before an ad appears, with an option to skip that ad if they don't want to interrupt the stream. Creators hosting live streams can also delay mid-roll ads for 10 minutes within the coming months with long-form videos. These changes follow YouTube's experiments with ad breaks on connected TVs and 30-second unskippable ads on such devices.
